Department of Creative Disobedience – The Film Cannon (In puppets)

The Film Cannon is blasting onto the streets of Almonte at Puppets Up! Puppets of all forms are here to bring to life moments from film favorites such as Mission Impossible, The Lord of the Rings, Jaws, and more! As you enjoy the merriment and mayhem of a puppet filled weekend, keep a keen eye out for D.O.D.O.s (Department Official Disruption Operatives), ready to animate. All you have to do is press PLAY. The Department of Creative Disobedience is formed by the artist duo of Emily Neufeld and Joey Graff. The Department’s mission is to enliven spaces with artistic disruption, shenanigans™, and regulation tom-foolery in a variety of forms throughout the Ottawa Valley.

Mitchel Rose and Maryse Fernandes: Spooky Clown Birthday Party

Aplombusrhombus is an award-winning Ottawa-based physical theatre collective, founded on a shared commitment to fearlessly tackling the complexities of humanity through the joyful naiveté of clown in visually striking, meticulously polished, and highly accessible original works. Using clown as a vehicle for exploration, Aplombusrhombus juxtapose human suffering with moments of joy and levity, resulting in pieces that resonate from their emotional centres as well as their polished exteriors.

Capt. Nick Di Gaetano: Sci-Fi Comedy Rock Show for All Ages

Nick is a comedian and musician whose career includes clown shows, puppet shows, improv shows, shows for children, bands, voice overs, music direction, sound design and tons of original music for stage, screen and stereos.

Jon the Cowguy’s juggling comedy magic show
With over 30 years experience in front of audiences, Jon The Cowguy delivers a vaudeville style show that is great for the whole family. Catch circus stunts, juggling, mini-bicycle riding, blended with a hint of magic and plenty of audience participation. Come out and see the show that has brought him from everywhere from Brockville to Belgium, from Sault Ste Marie to Singapore.

Liam Prince performs with THE CRUMPITS

Liam Prince began performing The Crumpits at the age of 12 following his many inspirations. The group is meant to represent diversity and inclusion and the importance of celebrating each other’s differences. The Crumpits include a menagerie of different creatures brought to life with multiple puppetry styles. The group most prominently appears in their local London TV series “Crumpit Puppet Corner” and have even gotten to work with Sid Krofft and Debbie Allen

 

Scarf Juggling Workshop with King Dom Theatre

KingDom Theatre is the international theatre company that brings together professional artists, educators, and passionate youth of all ages to create original performances that merge the artistic experiences of diverse cultures. Educational programming includes all elements of the performing arts disciplines aimed at youth, in their development and training, guiding them towards a professional level in their future careers. With its global vision, the company initiates collaboration and exchange with artists of all ages from around the world.

 

Mikey Artelle‘s Puppets: a hodgepodge of fuzzy muppet style characters

Mikey Artelle and his puppet characters, including Gordon the Sea Monster and Canadian Crusader, have entertained audiences since the 1980’s. His show “Heroes Past and Present” which features unique superhero hand puppets, premiered at the Puppets Up Festival in 2006 and received a Commendation for Design in Puppetry Theater from the Arlyn Award Society. For many years Mikey’s puppet creations were available in the Puppets Up artisan market. This year he joins us as a street performer.

Folk Music and High Jinx with Ken Ramsden

Ken’s performs with his Limber-jack dancing doll ‘Ashley’, his fiddle, jaw harp & silly routines. Perhaps you caught Ken from your visits to Fulton’s Sugarbush where Ken was a fixture for years. Ken especially likes to pass out instruments to his audience – creating pop up bands with innocent passers-by playing musical spoons, shakers & washboard!
