PuppetCon workshop

Sculpting with Plasticine

SOLD OUT!

Come spend some time with Noreen Young, lifelong puppeteer, puppet-builder and television producer. She’ll share with you how she sculpts the plasticine head of her puppets and provide you with enough of that modelling compound and modelling tools so you can have a crack at it yourself. Many of her recognizable puppet characters will be on hand to say hello and Noreen will demonstrate how they work and talk.

Host: Noreen Young (Almonte)

Noreen Young has had a long professional life as a puppeteer. She counts herself lucky that she was able to have a career doing exactly what she loved to do. Her puppet characters have appeared on CBC, TVOntario, CJOH, Canal Famille, the Disney Channel and more. Right now, some of them are on display at the Canadian Museum of History in their exhibit, “From Pepinot to Paw Patrol – Television Memories of our Childhood”. In 1995, she was honoured with the Order of Canada for her educational work with puppets and in 2005, she was happy to be one of the Founders of the Puppets Up! International Puppet Festival. In 1996, her production “Under the Umbrella Tree” was given a Citation of Excellence from UNIMA-USA. Noreen is the creator, the voice and the puppeteer of Gloria the Gopher.
