Credible Leadership
Puppets Up! was founded by and for more than twenty years remained under the steady hand of Noreen Young, an Order of Canada winning puppet creator and performer. Noreen’s resume was unmatched in the industry.
Sadly, Noreen passed away suddenly in April 2025. While she is missed by family, friends and puppeteers around the world, she left a legacy that lives on.
Noreen had already given the baton of Festival Program Director to the incredibly talented Jennifer Sheffield, a retired teacher and highly skilled puppeteer. Jenny worked with Noreen for years and is keen to carry on with the festival in 2026 in honour of her legendary friend, mentor and collaborator.
