If there’s one thing we know how to do in this town, it’s celebrate. Whether it’s a giant puppet dancing down Mill Street or a fiddle tune echoing through Gemmill Park, the community spirit here is as thick as a pint of Guinness.
This March 17th, as we’re all donning our best greens and “scouting” for the first signs of spring, we’ve got a massive shout-out to our friends and partners-in-fun over at Almonte Celtfest.
A Tale of Two Mascots: Nick & Liam
You might see them at different times of the year, but did you know that our very own Nick and Celtfest’s Liam are actually the best of friends?
Word on Mill Street is that when they aren’t busy greeting crowds, they’re usually found sharing stories about the best spots for a riverside nap or debating whose festival has the catchiest tunes. It’s a match made in Almonte heaven—one brings the puppets, the other brings the pipes, and together they keep the magic alive in the Mississippi Valley!
Your St. Paddy’s Day Scouting Mission:
If you’re out on Mill Street today with the family, we’ve got a mission for you:
- The Luck of the “Old Post Office”: Head to the top of Mill Street and look up at that gorgeous 1890s stone landmark. Can you spot any “green” hidden in the architecture? (Hint: check the copper patina!)
- The Riverwalk Reel: Take a stroll down the Riverwalk behind the shops. Listen closely—with the falls roaring, it sounds almost like a drum circle. Perfect for a quick family “step dance” on the boardwalk!
- Mascot Spotting: Keep your eyes peeled! You never know when Nick or Liam might be “scouting” the town for their next big event.
While we’re busy prepping the puppets for our next big appearance, make sure you mark your calendars for Celtfest (July 4-6, 2025).
Happy St. Patrick’s Day, neighbors! May your pockets be heavy and your heart be light!
