We are all fully engrossed in the Winter Olympics, and it is hard to imagine, but in less than six months the puppets will take over the streets of Almonte, and we will all be sitting curbside waiting for the parade to start!
We are planning an amazing festival August 8th and 9th, with 7 theatres, a dozen or more puppet troupes, excellent street entertainment, parades, a marketplace, an enlarged kids’ area and craft tent, and so much more. We hope you are following along, here on our website, and socials (Facebook and Instagram) to get the latest updates and will take advantage of the early bird pricing for affordable festival passes here: https://puppetsup.ticketsplease.ca/product/puppets-up/
Puppets Up! has an excellent board and very committed operational planning team – we all love to call the festival magic, but it is the work of magical people that makes it all happen! We have a few gaps in our team, and we would love to recruit a few magicians.
Vice Chair of the Board: we need a leader who would like to learn the ropes and eventually step into the role of Chair. This person attends monthly meetings and helps provide oversite of the not-for-profit corporation. This person might choose to get involved in operations. If you can see yourself in this role, send a message to chair@puppetsup.com
Communications Lead: we need someone who will manage a fantastic and energetic team to ensure maximum visibility, consistency in messaging and high attendance for the festival. This person oversees all aspects of the Marketing and Communications Committee (social media manager, newsletter manager, web master, graphic designer, media relations manager, marketing manager, videographer, photographers, writers, as well as liaisons from volunteer team and sponsorship team) and manages the budget, tracks expenditures, and outreach. Phew. If that isn’t enough, this magician also attends monthly meetings of the operations committee as well as convenes their own team meetings as needed. If you are this “volunt-hero” send a message to communications@puppetsup.com
It is truly a positive experience to be part of the leadership team of Puppets Up, and we all love that we are responsible for this joyful festival. Can we woo you to join us?
Your puppet pal,
Jane Torrance, Chair
