Puppets Up! is hitting the road (well, driving a few blocks) to join the spectacular Mississippi Mills Community Open House on April 9th! We are absolutely bursting at the seams—literally, Nick the Mascot had a minor thread incident this morning—to see all your shining faces in person.
Where the Magic Happens (And When!)
We will be holding court at the John Levi Community Centre from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM. That’s four whole hours of community connection, four hours of puppet-based joy, and four hours where the air will be thick with the excitement of our upcoming festival plans!
Why should you come say hi?
Oh, let us count the whimsical ways (including these two!):
- Mark Your Calendars! We’ll be shouting the official festival dates—August 8th and 9th, 2026—from the rafters! We want them seared into your memory. If you don’t have these dates written on your fridge by the time you leave, we haven’t done our jobs!
- Become a “Volunt-hero”! We aren’t just looking for helping hands; we are looking for a Legion of Legends to step into the glittering, metaphorical cape of a Volunt-hero! Do you have a knack for organized chaos? Do you enjoy the thrill of ensuring a puppet parade stays roughly on the road? We need you! Come chat with us about how you can save the day (and our sanity) during the festival.
But Wait… There’s More!
We aren’t coming alone. We’re bringing a handful of puppet pals for you to play with! Have you ever wanted to have a deep, philosophical conversation with a creature made of felt and dreams? Now is your chance to engage in some googly-eyed diplomacy.
And the pièce de résistance? The titan of textiles himself… NICK will be there in the fuzzy flesh! He’s been practicing his “mysterious yet approachable” gaze all week just for you.

In all seriousness, the Community Open House is one of our favorite ways to reconnect with the people who make Mississippi Mills such a special place to call home. Whether you’re a long-time festival fan or a newcomer wondering why everyone in town is suddenly talking to their hands, we want to meet you. It’s your energy, your kindness, and your Volunt-heroic spirit that keeps our puppets dancing and our community thriving.
